BAND SAW

“Getting the most out of your band saw” is published as a service to power tool users. Because different makes and models and sizes of machines vary in their performance and features, the editors have tried to make the information in this handbook as general as possible.

The depth-of-cut-capacity and the ability to do curve cuts make the band saw a valuable home workshop tool. It is also one of the safest of all power cutting machines. BUT, as with any other power tool, certain safety precautions must be followed. These precautions are detailed in chapter 2. Some illustrations in this book show the upper blade guide raised more than ¼ inch above the work piece top. This is done for the sake of picture clarity and is not intended as approval for adjusting the upper blade guard to high above the work piece. As detailed in chapter 2 the guard should be adjusted about a ¼ inch above the work piece.

This book was designed to accommodate both the beginner, wanting to learn the basics operations of the band saw, and the skilled artisan needing information about complex area of sawing or one of the other applications of this valuable tool.

You will find dozens of practical uses for the handy reference, “Getting The Most Out of Your Band Saw”.  In addition to basic band saw operating and sawing techniques, this book also covers straight, compound and circle cutting on a band saw, along with special operations such as sanding, metal cutting and much more.

Originally published in 1937, this hand book has been reprinted many times, and has evolved into both a compendium and final word about band saw.
